PRESS RELEASE

“Finding Peace”

Exhibition: August 30 – September 17

Vernissage: Wednesday, August 30, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Collins Lefebvre Stoneberger Fine Art of the Americas is pleased to present “Finding Peace,” the debut exhibition of oil paintings by Montreal artist HEIDI SPECTOR.

The horizon, ever-distant, invites us to leave ourselves, though we are bound by our bodies and our lives to remain.  The movement happens within us.  Heidi Spector’s landscape paintings are evocations of an interiority that is restorative: often of a light towards the end of the day, when the shapes and shadows of nature’s forms soften and her colours enhance in saturation.  There is an unhurried tempo to these interpretative works that conveys the painter’s process, intention and vision.  This is one woman’s vision of peacefulness and calm, in a sometimes volatile world, that we can all share.

As we wend our way through our hurried lives, we are confronted, perhaps even bombarded, with images from a world that seems to present crushing sadness and disappointment.  We cannot disregard humankind’s seemingly endless desire to annihilate and destroy, but neither can we let it take away our capacity for hope.

“My work invites you to enter an unpeopled world where the genius of natural forms -- ocean shorelines, lakes, rolling hills -- evokes a quiet contemplation.   A cleansing of the human spirit; a sense that you can surrender to the undertow of the painting and free your mind from life's daily pressures.”

You are cordially invited to attend the vernissage at Collins Lefebvre Stoneberger Fine Art of the Americas in Westmount this coming Wednesday. The artist will be present.
